Twelve color themes, each in Light and Dark, plus a System mode that follows your OS from day to night.

SQLly ships twelve color themes, each drawn as a matched Light and Dark palette - 24 in all. Your theme is two choices: a mode (Light, Dark, or System) and the palette each side of that mode uses. Everything follows the choice at once: the editor and its syntax colors, the Server Explorer, dialogs, and the result grid.

Changing the theme

Open Settings: SQLLY › Preferences… (⌘,) on macOS, or Tools › Options… (Ctrl,) on Windows and Linux. The gear on the status bar opens it too.
Go to Appearance › Themes.
Pick a mode: Light, Dark, or System.
Click a card under Light Theme and one under Dark Theme. Each card previews the palette's sidebar, canvas, accent, and text colors.

Changes apply immediately, open result grids included, and are remembered across restarts. For a quicker switch, the View menu (and the command palette) has Theme: System, Theme: Light, Theme: Dark, and Theme: High Contrast.

Light, Dark, and System

Light

Always uses the palette you picked under Light Theme.

Dark

Always uses the palette you picked under Dark Theme.

System

Follows your operating system's appearance: your Light theme while the OS is light, your Dark theme while it is dark. It switches live, so an OS that goes dark at sunset takes SQLly with it.

Because Light and Dark each remember their own palette, you can pair any two - say, Solarized Light by day and Tokyo Dark by night - and let System move between them. System has no screenshots of its own below; it always looks exactly like one of your two picks.

High Contrast

High Contrast Light and High Contrast Dark are palettes in the same galleries: pure white or black canvases, maximum-contrast text, and hard borders. View › Theme: High Contrast is a shortcut that swaps the High Contrast palette into the mode you are in - Light gets High Contrast Light, Dark gets High Contrast Dark, and System gets both.

Readable in every theme. Every palette is checked by an automated contrast test: body text and syntax colors must reach at least 4.5:1 (WCAG AA) against their background, and a palette change that breaks it fails the build.

The palettes

Cobalt	Charcoal-blue or cool gray-blue paper with a saturated cobalt accent.
Graphite	Chroma-free charcoal and true neutral gray with a restrained steel accent.
Signature	Teal-anchored neutrals with a faint teal cast and a teal accent.
Nordic	Cool arctic slate with a frosty blue accent.
Lavender	Soft purple-tinted surfaces with a lavender accent.
Tokyo	Night-city indigo with a bright periwinkle accent.
Sepia	Ivory paper and walnut ink, or darkroom umber, with a burnt-sienna accent.
Harbor	Crisp neutral grays with a familiar code-review blue.
Solarized	The classic cream and deep-teal canvases with a calm blue accent.
High Contrast	Black on white or white on black, for maximum legibility.
